Well Done in Week One!

Our New Roof

We are delighted with the new roof which is nearly finished.  Derbyshire County Council have worked very hard and the new slate roof looks so smart.  There has been a delay due to the need to rebuild the chimney stack but all should be finished to an excellent standard by the end of September.  As the buiding team are still using the large playground, we have had to split the smaller playground in half for Year 1 and 2 to share 1 class at a time each side.  The children have had happy playtimes with their Midday Supervisors who have oraganised lots of fun and games, including chalks, bubbles and new Noughts and Crosses games.

If Your Child Is Sick

Coronavirus; Please do not come to school if your child or anyone in your home has a high temparature, a cough or sudden lack of taste / smell.  You will all need to self isolate for  at least 10 days and request a test for Coronavirus (call NHS on 111).  Once a negative test result is given, your child may return to school.  You must report positive test results to school please, so that we can operate the Track and Trace system.  This will help to keep us all safe.

If your child develops the Coronavirus symptoms at school, we will telephone the first contact number on their records.  We will ask you to collect your child urgently.  If we cannot contact you quickly, we will try all other contacts to collect your child.  Please make sure your contact details are all up to date and that we have at least 3 trusted people to call please. Your child will be supervised and supported in our designated sick bay by staff wearing PPE. Please report to the office to collect your child in this instance. The self isolation and testing decribed above will then apply to your household. Thank you.

Sickness and Diarrhea; children must not come to school with sickness bugs and will need 48 hours off after the final bout before returning to school.  This is to ensure the germs have cleared please.

FLU; our school will be taking part in the annual NHS Flu innoculations this year, more details, including permissions, to follow soon.

School Dinners

Just to make sure that you all know that ALL pupils at The Brigg receive a free meal under the Government's Universal Free Meals funding.  We will order a meal for every child unless they have a packed lunchbox with them at 9am.  Our meals are delivered by taxi from Woodbridge School.  At UK junior schools, most children pay for their dinners, although some children will qualify for free meals if they are entitled to Pupil Premium funding.  At The Brigg, Pupil Premium children receive free uniform, resources and milk, subsidised trips and extra adult support in class.  If you think your child might be eligable please contact the office.  Find out more on our webpage
