The Brigg Infant School News

Return to School Update

Published on 22 May 2020

As you will have seen in the news, there has been an ongoing debate amongst local authorities, health, unions and the government about whether it is safe to open schools to other children from June 1st. Derbyshire County Council have advised us today that no school in Derbyshire should open to other than keyworker and vulnerable children until it is safe to do so.

As a result, The Brigg Infants will not be opening to other children from June 1st.  This is because the latest advice from the Government is that children need to be 2m apart in classrooms, and that it is not safe to rota children through the week.

Key workers will be notified that their children have a place by text by 3pm on Monday 25th May.  If you have not received a text by Monday 25th, we regret that you do not have place at school for the time being.  This is for your child's safety.

In June, we will look at a phased return for more children, once it is safe to do so and based on our risk assessment and advice from the Local Authority and the Government. We will keep you informed of any updates and the arrangements that we will be putting into place. Please keep checking our website and texts for more developments as well as the super home learning activities planned for your children by our teachers.

Thank you for your continued understanding and support in these difficult times.

Please stay safe and look after each other.
