Welcome to Year 2 - Monet Class and Goldsworthy Class

Term 1 September 2020

We are so pleased to welcome all the boys and girls back to school.  We hope you like our new class names, which the children voted for.  We will be learning about these artists this term.

If your child has any symptoms of Coronavirus your household will have to self isolate and have a test.  If your child is well enough during this time, they should complete their home learning as outlined below please. The following links will help your child keep up to date with their school work if they are off school. 

Reading:  Becoming a fluent reader is the key to success in Year 2.  Please try and read daily by selecting a book at your child's level  on https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/for-home/find-a-book/library-page/

Writing:  This term our topic title is Who Lives in Africa? 

Task 1 - Can you research an African animal and write a report about it?  Can you organise your report into sections? Where does it live?  What does it look like?  What does it eat?  Amazing Facts!

Task 2 – We have read Meerkat Mail in school.  Imagine you are a different African animal eg an elephant, can you write a postcard home telling your family about the new place you are visiting and what it is like there?  What is the weather like?  What is the food like?  Do you like it there?

Spelling:  Please keep up to date by practising the weekly spellings. You can find these on Class Dojo and there is a 2Do set weekly on Purple Mash.  Please message your class teacher on Class Dojo if you need your login.

Maths:  You can find the daily maths lesson on https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-2/   Please message your child's class teacher on Class Dojo to find out which lessons your child needs to complete while they are off school.  This will ensure they cover the same content which is being taught in class so will not fall behind.  There is also maths homework set weekly on Class Dojo.
