Admissions

To apply for a place

This information is for children due to start in September 2023.

Date of birth: - 1st September 2018 to 31st August 2019

The Local Authority (LA) is required to co-ordinate admissions to all Derbyshire Primary, Infant and Junior schools for the academic year. The LA acts as a 'clearing house' for all admissions and enables parents to express a preference for one, two or three schools and to place those preferences in rank order. Parents must make their application using a LA  application form (usually online), to be returned direct to the LA and give reasons for their preferred schools.

Applications close on 15th January 2023.

After this date you will then apply as an "in-year" admission.

To apply

  • online at www.derbyshire.gov.uk
  • or through Call Derbyshire on 08456 058 058
  • or by post, paper forms are available on request from Call Derbyshire on 08456 058 058.

If you want to apply to change your child's school at any other time you can find information about how to do this in the changing schools section of the Derbyshire website.

Children who join our school usually transfer from South Normanton Nursery School, South Normanton Pre-School, Private Nurseries or other Early Years settings. In order to facilitate as smooth a transfer as possible, all children visit The Brigg during their final term. Parents are invited to an induction meeting during the term prior to their child joining the school. This provides an opportunity to hear more about the school, ask questions and meet future class teachers. Parents who move into the area should contact us to discuss the details. We have replaced our usual open days and tours with TEAMs meetings for new parents, due to COVID 19 restrictions currently.   We hope to resume these as soon as we are allowed.

The Junior School to which the children normally transfer is Glebe Junior School. We have strong links with the school and have a comprehensive and exciting transfer programme during the year that ensures that the Y2 children are happy and confident about the next step in their school life.
